Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Group
Coping with the scars of war are physical, mental and emotional in their depth, often creating a sense of hopelessness, loss of control, feelings of guilt, grief, fear, deep sadness, anger and rage. Night terrors, short tempers, disassociation with loved ones, isolation and chemical dependency are only some of the symptoms associated with this disorder.
There are no easy answers, the work has to be done. A calm, clear mind is often elusive to a soldier suffering from PTSD but is critical to their successful recovery from this debilitating disorder. Qigong Principle training allows the soldier to settle and begin to focus, bringing personal awareness and availability to the healing work ahead.
Even if for a brief moment, once they are able to find that personal space, it becomes easier for them to find again. This in itself does not resolve the issues manifested by the trauma but it will help the patient be more available for therapeutic processing which can then lead to more effective work towards their overall health.
