Law enforcement is widely regarded as one of the most stressful professions in the nation. The impact of stress extends far beyond the work environment to all facets of life, be it physical health, emotional well-being, or interpersonal relationships.
Mindfulness is the act of being aware of the present moment but doing so without judgment, elaboration, or emotional reactivity. Self-regulation in highly charged situations, good decision making, and emotional management are essential for effective performance as a law enforcement professional – and these skills can all be strengthened through regular mindfulness practice.
The Brain Performance Institute’s Mindfulness for Law Enforcement program is a four-week mindfulness-based resilience training program offered to law enforcement professionals. The program was created with the help of neuroscientists and law enforcement experts to address core aspects of human performance, resilience, and overall well-being.
